FROM THE DEPUTY

Hi all, I hope you are doing well and looking forward to spending some extra time with your children during the Term 2/3 holidays. This year I am heading back to Melrose again, a trip that I’ve done for the last 3 years. This time we’ll have our 6-month-old baby with us so that will be interesting to say the least. As I mentioned at about this time last year, this is a great time to reassess your child/ren’s academic goals for the second half of the year. Please feel free to let these goals be known to your child’s classroom teacher so we can plan together how we can make these goals a reality.
Over the past two Wednesdays our Year 5 and 6 students have been involved in our cluster's Enrichment program. Students either participated in electives here, or at St Therese or St Thomas. I managed to get around to all of the activities held here at Kingswood and was amazed to see so many children engaged, having fun and learning at the same time. It was interesting to see that many of the students from the three schools were going to the same high school. We are hoping that students will have a few more familiar faces when they make this important step in their educational journeys. A big thank you to Alannah Prestwich, Joshua Bratt, Serena Pike and Lisa Lambourne for creating such meaningful and relevant learning experiences. I heard positive words of feedback from the students from all three schools.
Last Friday we held our annual school Disco! It was so great to see more than 150 of our almost 230 students dancing, laughing, singing and creating meaningful memories with their friends. Thank you so much to the P&F for getting the event up and running and all of the parents who came and volunteered on the night. These things wouldn’t happen without the support of all of you.
I hope that you all have a great break and I look forward to seeing you all next term.
Take care,
Jamie
