FROM THE APRIM

Dear Families,

Happy Easter to all of you in our Community and as Jesus said to the disciples locked away and fearful after his death: “Peace be with you!” (Jn 20:19).

SCHOOL EASTER CELEBRATION
The Easter Season is a time of new beginnings, of celebration and fresh starts and this could not be more true for our school as we made a return to the Church for our Easter Mass Celebration on Friday of Week 1. It was the first time that we have gathered to celebrate Mass as a whole school and in the Church this year and it was truly a special occasion. Here's to many more gatherings in our Church moving forward!

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM
And speaking of celebration, next Friday, 20th May the 2021/22 Sacramental candidates will be celebrating their CONFIRMATION after many weeks of preparation. I am very proud of this group of candidates and their families as they have persevered through many adversities to reach this point.  We pray for them as they make this special commitment to their faith.

PRAYER BOWL
The school has commissioned a very special prayer bowl that now resides in the front office. This bowl is situated on a white, round table under the monitor. You may have had the opportunity to admire the intricate ceramic design on this bowl, and if so, you would have noticed the many botanical elements present on it: Lilies, Chicory, Olive branch. These botanical elements are all mentioned and featured in the Bible and the Lilly is the symbol of St Joseph. The vision for this prayer bowl is to be a recipient of our prayers to God and to symbolize the power of wonderment and questions in our faith journey since the meaning of the design is not readily apparent when one first sees it. Adjacent to the prayer table is a botanical Bible that contains highlighted references to botanical elements in the Bible. The various plants draw upon the school's passion for custodianship, while the central bowl containing a candle is swapped over so that its colour aligns with the colour of the liturgical calendar. We love how this perhaps unassuming element carries so much meaning and is so representative of the Catholic Identity of St Joseph. I invite you to stop by the Prayer Bowl the next time you're in the school!

Blessings!
