FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families and Friends,
The year is coming to a close quickly, with so much to celebrate in the final weeks of 2024 school year. We are busy finalising reports, class structures and staffing while looking forward to numerous end-of-year celebrations. I have my white t-shirt ready for the Colour Run, to farewell The Green – don’t forget to come along this Friday for one final Picnic on current ‘The Green’.
Colour Run – fun for all!
Thank you to those who have joined in the fundraising efforts for the new Green! As always, our P&F work hard to ensure our events are inclusive so all students can participate – just be sure you bring a white top (or old clothing). There will be elements of the ‘run’ that are free from colour, or a gentler colouring. If you prefer students may choose to donate to the Green on the day via the traditional ‘cash’ method to the class teacher or the office. All students will receive a ‘Thank you’ item.
2025 Staffing
With only a few weeks to go, it is important that we share information regarding staffing. We will formally thank staff who are leaving our community at our End of year Mass at 9.15am on Friday 6th December.
I would like to thank Taryn Dale for stepping in at short notice to support the Reception class for the remainder of term 4. Taryn has been amazing at quickly getting to know children, setting up routines and enabling the learning to be a real focus to end the year. We thank Taryn and wish her all the best.
We are also ‘farewelling’ Jane Poole as she has decided to take a little break from full-time work, but we will still see her around as a TRT and hope she will be back again soon. Jane has been such a wonderful asset to our community, and we have seen her flourish as a beginning teacher. Her dedication to providing the best education to individuals in her care is exemplary. Thank you, Jane!
Belinda Medlow will be working part-time in 2025, and teaming with Maddie Utting on a three-day contract for 2025. Maddie is an early career teacher who has been heavily involved in the OSHC program and undertaken TRT at Seymour over the past year. Originally from Whyalla, she has also completed short contracts and temporary relief work in Whyalla.
We have appointed Michael Mastrangelo as a Permanent Primary Educator. Michael is currently working at Our Lady Queen of Peace at Albert Park and previous to this was at St Joseph’s School Payneham where he has worn many different hats. Michael has had various teaching roles and past employment as an OSHC Director, Year 6 and Year 3 teacher, a Reception-Year 6 STEM Specialist Teacher and even did a stint as an Italian Teacher.
Finally, we are excited that Kate Mueller is staying on as our Joeys Teacher as well as continuing her work in the gifted space and other roles for two days a week. We are very grateful for all her help and stepping in whenever needed, and to have her around again in 2025!
Picnic on the Green & Twilight Markets
This Friday's Picnic on the Green is set to be the best, and easiest yet! Our P&F are hosting not just their pop-up bar, but also cooking up a storm on the BBQ with a sausage sizzle (no need to worry about packing a platter/picnic basket!)
To add to the fun, our year 6 students are providing a ‘Twilight Market’ to our picnic. As part of their HASS studies. We are very excited with the variety of the products – come prepared with some cash to support the students and the charities they have chosen to donate to.
I look forward to catching up with many of you at our End of Year Mass and at our annual Picnic on the Green.
In all things Charity,
Jodie
