This Friday (15 February), we will host our first Parents & Friends meeting, to coincide with the first Coffee Connect morning. All families are very welcome to engage with our Parents & Friends group. It is a fantastic way to become involved in your child’s school community, and to have a say in how our community develops over time! In the evening, I strongly encourage all families to come along to our WELCOME Gathering. The first hour allows for open classrooms. This will be a great opportunity to both witness first-hand, some of the children’s learning, have a chat with their teacher and then enjoy some time catching-up with old and new friends, with our Picnic on the Green. For details of this and other school events, have a look at the SZapp calendar.
At the beginning of every school year, our community welcomes many new faces! This year, we welcome:

Thank you for downloading SZapp. It will be the primary source of information regarding our school community as we seek to deliver our families with more proactive, streamlined communication in 2019. (The Seesaw app remains the conduit between classroom and home.) SZapp has replaced Skoolbag as it has improved functionality to allow us to provide a more "one-stop-shop" platform. To ensure you receive up-to-date information, check that your Notifications are turned on (refer to the link below if you're unsure).

Happy 2019 to our beautiful school community! It was so lovely to celebrate the Beginning of the Year Mass on Friday 8th February morning. I must say, I just love standing at the microphone, looking over our students and staff- all gathered together in our Church. It is such an honour to work in the Catholic system where these occasions are among the highlights of the year. I, along with all the school staff, take great pride in bringing our community together for masses and liturgies: meaningful encounters with God.
Well done to the Year 4/5 Class (Mrs Wicks and Mrs Pike) for running the mass so smoothly and a big thank you to Fr Michael who, as always, did an amazing job in connecting with all of those present and bringing the celebration to life.
Congratulations again to the school leaders who received their badges. They all have big jobs that we are confident they will carry out with excellence.
“But a few seeds did fall on good ground where the plants grew and produced thirty or sixty or even a hundred times as much as was scattered.
Then Jesus said, ‘If you have ears, listen!’.”

Welcome back!
All 2019 Fee statements will be posted out this week.
Thank you to those families who returned their fee agreement form nominating their preferred payment option. If this paperwork has not yet been received, it is now overdue and your prompt attention would be greatly appreciated. Another copy has been included with your statement. Please return to the front office or email finance@stjk.catholic.edu.au as soon as possible.
Remember that if you pay your fees in full by Feb 28th you will receive a 5% discount on the tuition component.
BPAY and Account details are included on the bottom of your statement.
If you have opted for an automatic credit card deduction for fees or OSHC it is important to keep your card details and expiry date updated so there is no interruption to your payments.
If you are experiencing genuine financial hardship and wish to discuss your options further please make a time to see me (Mon, Tues, Thurs). Alternatively you can call me on 8271 6553 or email finance@stjk.catholic.edu.au with any billing queries.

The Buzz List allows our families to organise playdates, coordinate sporting events and is a key part of the connection between families within the classroom. Based on feedback from previous years with almost everyone wanting to be on the list, but some being slower than others to return the form to Class Reps, we have changed to an OPT OUT instead of the previous opt in arrangement. This means:
- if you don't want your phone and email address to be circulated with Class Reps and the parents of your childs' classmates you need to email admin@stjk.catholic.edu.au by Friday 15th February.
Class Reps will then be supplied a list of contact details of all parents/caregivers (for their relevant class) who haven't opted out.
There are still a few classes looking for Reps. As they say, many hands make light work and if you're thinking of doing it, please put up your hand and let the teacher know ASAP.
For those unfamiliar, as a Class Rep you might-
- arrange social functions for parents and families throughout the year
- be a part of the P&F
It doesn’t need to be time-sapping, just a bit of coordination is required.
For anyone keen, please let your class teacher know.
Read LessWe appreciate all the families who have returned their forms already. For those who haven't, please help us ensure we are able to best care for your child by returning the St Joseph's Medical & Health Information form ASAP.
Other important items to note:
- If your child does not attend school for three or more days in a row, we are required to have something in writing on file. If it’s due to illness a medical certificate is accepted, otherwise an email (to admin@stjk.catholic.edu.au) or letter is required
- If your child has asthma or anaphylaxis we are required to have a current (2019) Medical Action Plan from your GP (as well as relevant, in date medication)
- Any students arriving after 9am or being collected before 3.10pm need to be signed in/out through the iPad in the front office
- Banking Day is Friday. Please ensure bank books are to the Front Office by 9am to ensure our volunteers can bank the funds
If you have any questions regarding the above, please don't hesitate to come and see one of the Front Office staff or call the school to discuss.
